Balabolka 2.15.0.884 – Text To Speech
Balabolka is a Text-To-Speech (TTS) program. All computer voices installed on your system are available to Balabolka. The program can read the clipboard content, view the text from CHM, DjVu, DOC, EPUB, FB2, HTML, ODT, PDF and RTF files. Also it can customize font and background colour, control reading from the system tray or by the global hotkeys.
Balabolka uses various versions of Microsoft Speech API (SAPI). It allows to alter a voice’s parameters, including rate and pitch.
The user can apply a special substitution list to improve the quality of the voice’s articulation. This feature is useful when you want to change the spelling of words. The rules for the pronunciation correction use the syntax of regular expressions.
Balabolka can save the synchronized text in external LRC files or in MP3 tags inside the audio files. When you play an audio file with players on a computer or on modern digital audio players, the text is displayed synchronously. At the same way, as lyrics for songs. The on-screen text you can save as a WAV, MP3, MP4, OGG or WMA file.

- Fixed the using of Yandex SpeechKit.
- Updated the list of voices for CereVoice Cloud.
- Updated the using of Iciba TTS, Naver TTS and Youdao TTS.
- Removed all changes related to program crashes due to MMDevApi.dll system library. Here’s what we know about the problem that appears after installing the 24H2 update for Windows 11: if the user’s monitor contains speakers, if the graphics card and the monitor are connected by a cable that transmits sound – this leads to unstable work of Balabolka, it periodically crashes, and the MMDevApi.dll library is specified in the event log as the cause of the crash. But if you connect speakers or headphones to the audio jack on the motherboard of the same computer, Balabolka works stably. So, the problem is neither in the MMDevApi.dll library nor in Balabalka, but in some driver inside the 24H2 update. Until Microsoft developers fix the problem, here’s the situation: if you installed Windows 11 update 24H2 and Balabolka starts crashing, connect your audio output device to a different port on your computer.
